The Lathums return with soaring new single 'Vice Versa' after a year away

After more than a year without new music, The Lathums are back. The Wigan indie favourites will release their brand-new single 'Vice Versa' on Friday 17 July 2026 at 10am, marking the next chapter for one of Britain's most quietly enduring guitar bands.

Arriving alongside the track is a striking new video that brings frontman Alex Moore's vision to life. Written to explore, in his words, "a feeling of not fully belonging in the world we've built around ourselves", 'Vice Versa' finds Moore wrestling with questions of identity, dependence, fear and the challenge of finding your place. Despite a run of Number One albums, sold-out headline shows and growing mainstream recognition, the songwriter remains preoccupied by the emotional uncertainties that have always sat at the heart of The Lathums' music. Thankfully, that introspection doesn't come at the expense of melody. 'Vice Versa' pairs Moore's tender, emotionally charged lyricism with another instantly memorable indie-pop hook, delivering the kind of uplifting, guitar-driven anthem fans have been waiting patiently to hear. Although they've kept a relatively low profile since releasing their third album, Matter Does Not Define, at the beginning of last year, The Lathums have hardly disappeared. Rather than saturating the promo trail, they've chosen their moments carefully, playing a handful of intimate warm-up shows before returning to some of the UK's biggest stages this summer and autumn.
