This week in the UK album charts there are 6 new entries, 5 of which in the top 20.
The new entries this week are from Blue with ‘Reflections’ their first since ‘Heart and Soul’ in 2022; Zach Bryan ‘With Heaven on Top’ the 6th Album from the Oklahoman country singer- songwriter; We’re pleased to see that The Cribs are back with the first album in 6 years ‘Selling a Vibe’; Dry Cleaning are back with what some call their sophomore (or second) album - ’Secret Love’; and Alter Bridge, the American Prog rockers back with their self titled album ‘Alter Bridge’. Blue have been together for over 25 years now. They had massive success with their 3 albums before taking an extended break. They came back with a further 4 albums, before this one, represented the UK in Eurovision, recorded with Elton John, changed record labels a few times, and had extensive tours in Asia. They have a UK tour later this year. Whilst Blue’s album entered the UK Album charts at number 2 another long serving band ‘The Cribs’ hit the charts at number 5. The British band of brothers, twins Gary and Ryan Jarman, and their younger brother Ross, are back with their latest indie rock / post punk album ‘Selling a Vibe’. They'll be following it up later this year with US and UK tours. Dry Cleaning, has to be one of the most drab sounding band names, hopefully this album will be a good one though. They get played a lot on BBC radio 6 and I think this high position in the charts is largely down to this, I bet most of the sales are vinyl rather than streams too. We loved the first album from back in 2021 with the lovely ‘Scratchcard lanyard’. We’ll be reviewing it this week. Olivia Dean ‘The Art of Loving’ is still at number one! Biggest climber this week is Bruno Mar ‘Doo-Wops & Hooligans’ jumping 53 places up to 31. He’s announced a new album coming out shortly in Feb. I think that's why we’re seeing a bump here. His 24K Magic album has crept back in the top 100 too. Other re-entries - back in the top 100 albums, Skye Newman with SE9 PART 1, and Bee Gees with ‘Timeless - The All-Time Greatest Hits’.
