At the 2025 Creative Arts Emmy Awards, music took the centre stage as Christopher Lennertz (‘The Boys’), Theodore Shapiro (‘Severance’) and Mick Giacchino (‘The Penguin’) all won key honours. Kendrick Lamar also earned recognition for his Super Bowl halftime show, marking another strong year of crossover between television and popular music.

The 2025 Creative Arts Emmy Awards, held on 6-7 September at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles, highlighted some of the best achievements in television music. One of the standout moments came when Christopher Lennertz won ‘Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics’ for the satirical holiday track “Let’s Put the Christ Back in Christmas” from ‘The Boys’. This marks his first Emmy win, celebrating his sharp blend of humour and musicality. Another major victory went to Theodore Shapiro, who picked up ‘Outstanding Music Composition for a Series (Original Dramatic Score)’ for his work on Apple TV+’s “Severance’. This is Shapiro’s second Emmy win for the show, following his recognition in 2022, cementing his reputation as one of television’s most atmospheric composers. Meanwhile, Mick Giacchino received ‘Outstanding Music Composition for a Limited or Anthology Series, Movie, or Special’ for his score on ‘The Penguin’. Kendrick Lamar’s Emmy-winning Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show highlighted the 2025 ceremony’s blend of television and popular music, where nominees also included Beyoncé, Hans Zimmer and Jay-Z. The 2025 Emmys underscored music’s importance in television by celebrating composers, performers, and live productions that defined the year’s most impactful on-screen moments.
