The Black Crowes are an American rock band formed in 1984 in Atlanta by brothers Chris and Rich Robinson. They developed a reputation for blues-infused hard rock and Southern rock with a reputation for powerful live performances. Their 1990 debut, Shake Your Money Maker, brought mainstream success with hits like Hard to Handle and She Talks to Angels. The 1992 album The Southern Harmony and Musical Companion is often regarded as their peak, featuring Remedy and Thorn in My Pride and establishing them as one of the era’s defining rock acts. Subsequent albums Amorica (1994) and Three Snakes and One Charm (1996) pushed their sound toward heavier, more expansive territory. The band has endured frequent lineup changes, tensions with record labels, and intermittent hiatuses, though they have repeatedly reformed for tours and new music. They continued releasing albums such as By Your Side (1999) and Lions (2001) as the decades changed, maintaining a devoted following and influence on blues-rock.
