The Black Crowes

The Black Crowes

The Black Crowes are an American rock band formed in the mid-1980s by brothers Chris and Rich Robinson. They burst onto the scene with their 1990 debut, Shake Your Money Maker, driven by a bluesy hard-rock sound and anchored by the hit cover Hard to Handle and the soulful ballad She Talks to Angels. Their 1992 follow-up, The Southern Harmony and Musical Companion, is widely regarded as their defining work, blending Southern rock, gospel, and blues into a powerful, melodic statement. The band continued to evolve with albums like Amorica (1994) and Three Snakes and a Charm (1996), while building a reputation for intense, improvisation-heavy live performances. Through the years they endured lineup changes and periods of hiatus, but continued to release music and tour, adding Lions (2001) and Warpaint (2008) to their catalog. Their legacy rests on their ability to fuse classic American roots music with modern rock energy, influencing a generation of bands and leaving a lasting mark on blues-rock resurgence.
