BLACKPINK is a South Korean girl group formed by YG Entertainment in Seoul in 2016. The quartet—Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa—is known for blending pop with hip hop, EDM, and R&B, and for high-energy performances and influential fashion. They debuted in August 2016 with Square One, featuring the hits Whistle and Boombayah, which helped them gain worldwide attention. In 2019 they became the first K-pop girl group to perform at Coachella, marking a major milestone in global exposure. The group has released two full‑length albums, The Album (2020) and Born Pink (2022), and has also pursued successful solo projects: Jennie with Solo (2018), Rosé with the project R including On the Ground (2021), Lisa with Lalisa (2021), and Jisoo with Me (2023). BLACKPINK remains one of the world’s most influential K-pop acts, touring globally and shaping music, fashion, and popular culture.
