NewDad

NewDad is an indie rock band from Galway, Ireland, known for their dreamy soundscapes and raw, introspective lyrics. Formed in 2018, the band consists of lead vocalist and guitarist Julie Dawson, guitarist Sean O'Dowd, bassist Áindle O’Beirn, and drummer Fiachra Parslow. The group met while attending secondary school, bonding over a shared love of alternative and shoegaze music. NewDad began to gain attention in 2020 with the release of their early singles like "Blue" and "Cry," which showcased their signature blend of hazy guitar textures, ethereal vocals, and emotionally charged themes. Their music draws inspiration from artists such as The Cure, Wolf Alice, and Radiohead, combining melancholic tones with a grunge-inflected edge. In 2021, the band released their debut EP, "Waves," which earned critical acclaim and established them as a rising force in the indie music scene. This success was followed by the release of their sophomore EP, "Banshee," in 2022, further cementing their reputation for atmospheric, heartfelt songwriting.
