Blood Orange is the stage name of Devonté Hynes, a British singer, songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist known for his genre-blending music that spans R&B, electronic, funk, and indie pop. Born on December 23, 1985, in London, England, Hynes began his musical career in the mid-2000s as a member of the dance-punk band Test Icicles. After the group disbanded, he released music under the moniker Lightspeed Champion, exploring folk and Americana influences. In 2011, Hynes adopted the name Blood Orange and released "Coastal Grooves," an album that marked a shift toward a more soulful and experimental sound. He gained critical acclaim for his subsequent albums, including "Cupid Deluxe" (2013), "Freetown Sound" (2016), and "Negro Swan" (2018), which explored themes of identity, race, and emotional vulnerability.
