MARINA

MARINA, born Marina Lambrini Diamandis on October 10, 1985, in Brynmawr, Wales, is a Welsh singer, songwriter, and record producer known for her distinctive voice and eclectic pop style. She first gained attention with her debut album "The Family Jewels" in 2010, which showcased her theatrical vocal delivery and lyrical themes centered on identity and societal expectations. Performing initially under the stage name Marina and the Diamonds—a reference to her own name rather than a backing band—she built a devoted fan base through her unique blend of indie pop and new wave influences. Her second album, "Electra Heart" (2012), introduced a conceptual persona and embraced a more electro-pop sound, earning her commercial success and a number one spot on the UK Albums Chart. Over the years, MARINA has continued to evolve artistically, releasing "FROOT" in 2015, which she wrote and produced largely on her own, followed by "Love + Fear" (2019), an album exploring psychological themes through a dualistic structure. In 2021, she released "Ancient Dreams in a Modern Land," a politically charged record that reflected her growing activism and concern for global issues. In 2019, she officially rebranded as MARINA, dropping "and the Diamonds" to reflect a more personal and introspective phase of her career. Known for her thought-provoking lyrics, bold visuals, and genre-blending sounds, MARINA remains a unique and influential voice in contemporary pop music.
