Penfriend is the solo musical project of British artist Laura Kidd, a singer, songwriter, and producer known for her thoughtful lyrics and genre-blending sound. Previously releasing music under the name She Makes War, Kidd rebranded as Penfriend in 2020, embracing a more expansive and experimental approach to alternative rock and indie pop. Her debut album as Penfriend, *Exotic Monsters*, was released in 2021 and received critical acclaim for its emotional depth and bold production. In addition to music, Kidd is also a podcaster and visual artist, often exploring themes of identity, mental health, and technology in her work. Based in Bristol, she operates her own label and studio, creating music with a strong DIY ethic and a close connection to her fan community.
