Michael Kiwanuka is a British singer-songwriter and musician known for his soulful voice and deeply emotive compositions. Born on May 3, 1987, in Muswell Hill, London, to Ugandan immigrant parents, he grew up in a culturally rich environment that heavily influenced his music. Kiwanuka developed an early passion for music, learning to play the guitar as a teenager and drawing inspiration from artists like Jimi Hendrix, Bill Withers, Otis Redding, and Marvin Gaye. He studied jazz at the Royal Academy of Music and later pursued a degree in popular music at the University of Westminster. Initially, he worked as a session guitarist, collaborating with other artists before deciding to perform his own music.
