He first gained prominence as a member of the indie pop band The xx, formed in 2005 alongside Romy Madley Croft, Oliver Sim, and initially Baria Qureshi. Jamie xx’s role within the band, primarily focusing on percussion, production, and beat-making, helped shape their minimalist, emotive sound that garnered critical acclaim.
