Evanescence is an American rock band formed in 1995 in Little Rock, Arkansas, by singer and pianist Amy Lee and guitarist Ben Moody. After releasing independent demos and building a local following, the group achieved international fame with their 2003 major-label debut, Fallen, which yielded hit singles such as Bring Me to Life and My Immortal and helped define a blend of gothic rock and symphonic metal for a mainstream audience. Moody left the band later in 2003, and Lee has continued Evanescence with a rotating lineup of musicians. The band released The Open Door in 2006, followed by projects like Synthesis in 2017 and The Bitter Truth in 2021, continuing to merge heavy guitars, orchestral textures, and Lee’s distinctive mezzo-soprano voice.
