The Boo Radleys were an English indie rock band formed in the late 1980s in the northwest of England. They became known for melodic, guitar-driven indie pop with psychedelic touches, evolving into expansive, dreamier arrangements over time. Fronted by guitarist Martin Carr, they released a string of records on Creation Records, including the debut Everything's Alright Forever and the breakthrough Giant Steps, which helped define British indie in the early 1990s. Their 1995 The Perfect Prescription further broadened their audience with pop hooks and lush production. The band split in 1999 after a long, productive run; Carr pursued a solo career, while other members moved into various projects. The Boo Radleys' work remains influential in indie and dream pop circles, and their name nods to the mysterious Boo Radley from Harper Lee's To Kill a Mockingbird.
