The Fall Of A Rebel Angel

Enigma

Review

"The Fall of a Rebel Angel" by Enigma is a bold and atmospheric return to form for Michael Cretu's iconic musical project. Released in 2016, this concept album weaves together the signature elements that have defined Enigma's sound—ethereal synthscapes, haunting chants, and immersive storytelling—with a modern twist. Narrated by actor-narrator samples, the album charts the spiritual and emotional journey of a lost soul seeking redemption, touching on themes of love, transformation, and self-discovery. Musically, it blends world beat rhythms with ambient textures and electronic elements, creating a cinematic experience. Standout tracks like "Sadeness (Part II)" and "Amen" echo the group's classic hits while introducing a deeper narrative cohesion. While it may not break radically new ground, "The Fall of a Rebel Angel" is a compelling and mature evolution of Enigma's sound, offering both long-time fans and new listeners a rich and introspective audio journey.
